KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur (which translates to 'Muddy Confluence') is the cultural, financial, and economic center of Malaysia. I found the city a bit congested with an urban-meets-jungle kind of vibe. Spacious parks and greenery provided breathing room. KL is where the Gombak & Klang rivers meet. Water is never far, and humidity is always near.

Around the City

Walkabouts in Asian megacities always turn-up some interesting sites.
An enthusiastic monk walked up to me and asked me for a few ringgits (Malay money). I ponied up a few and he pressed a nifty thin golden plastic lenticular ‘medallion’ into my hand.
It’s still one of the coolest little mementos from my travels.

Petronas Towers

The city's & country's visual landmark, the Petronas Towers always provides the reference point when you're on foot in this giant city. I landed a ticket to the Towers Skybridge for great views over the sprawl. Evening and low-light settings on the old Sony camera made for some cool shots.

Aquarium

The Aquaria KLCC is a 60,000 sf oceanarium beneath KL's Convention Centre. The 'Fish Column' was pretty striking and underwater tunnels are always cool.
