CHILE

Didn’t spend too much time in northern Chile, but Arica & San Pedro de Atacama provided some great food, helpful new friends, wine & hiking before we began our multi-day jeep excursion in the neighboring country.

Did I mention the wine?

We put away several bottles of delicious red vino (try Exportacion if you get the chance) before cranking up the altitudes in Bolivia.

Over The Andes

Before meeting up with Frenchie in Lima, Peru, I had a very brief stopover in Santiago, Chile. Before landing, I got a good look down onto the longest mountain range in the world; the mighty Andes.

Arica

Our brief stop in Chile's dry, northernmost city was where we caught a military parade marching beneath the looming 'Morro de Arica'.

San Pedro de Atacama

Stopped at this small, one-horse-town near the desert of the same name before heading into Bolivia.

Being on the west side of the South American continent for a sunset over the Andes was one of the finest I've ever seen; like layers of the red hot desert being cooled-off by the moon overhead. It seemed like an ideal place from where to bring a telescope and a few bottles of red vino and view mind-blowing constellations in the southern sky.
At least we had the red wine thing well covered.
